The incognito series or what I term distortions started as a project for ManchesterConfidential.
People go to restaurants to be alone, among friends, to be private which is why you don’t see many pictures of restaurants in action, in the moment, in that glimpse where they are actually themselves, that moment just before the waiter arrives. To avoid that sensitivity I put these shots through a distorting filter which turned them into oil paintings, an effect I quite like because it makes them less literal, more evocative, more nuanced.
I walk around with a little Canon 120 and have an Eos 700d as back up. The virtual exhibition is posted here
